Our Mission at Superbloom Society

Mission Statement: Empowering Voices and Spirits

Superbloom Society is a collective of women and femme presenting/identifying people who have endured the weight of societal expectations, often shutting down our intuition and disconnecting from ourselves to stay safe, to blend in, and to remain small, quiet, and obedient.

To weather the challenges of our individual journeys, each of us found writing as a way to process our experiences, to decondition, to unlearn, and most importantly, to heal and reconnect with ourselves. Along the way, we found each other. By recognizing our different styles, strengths, and backgrounds, we came together to form the Superbloom Society.

We recognize the need for emotional healing, self-discovery, and connection in a world that has often marginalized our experiences and perspectives. If we had to summarize in a poem what Superbloom signifies to us, it is “Rewilding” by Ada Limón. But we can’t rewild in a vacuum. We need the support of nature and each other. We need connection. We need community.

Our mission is to create a nurturing and empowering safe space for those who identify as women, where they can embody this sense of rewilding, freely explore their inner worlds, unearth their unique creativity, and blossom into their truest selves.

Our core values:

  • Fostering Community: We are dedicated to cultivating a diverse and inclusive community of individuals who support and uplift one another. In a world that often pits us against each other, we believe in the strength of purposeful connection for the highest good.

  • Accessibility: We recognize the diverse economic backgrounds and situations of the masses, so we strive to offer services and experiences that are fair, affordable, and accessible. When we price workshops and retreats, we always take this into account.

  • Safe Haven: We provide a safe and judgment-free environment where people can share their stories, thoughts, and emotions without fear or expectation. In this container, we aim to play a role in the healing process by acting as the facilitator for meaningful interpersonal connections with like-minded individuals.

  • Inner Exploration: Through writing workshops and nature retreats, we encourage self-reflection and exploration. We believe that writing and nature is a powerful combination, one that can lead to the highest and truest expression of self. By understanding our inner worlds through these modalities, we can better navigate the external forces that seek to define and divide us.

  • Uninhibited Creativity: We believe anyone can be a writer.  Whether you have a degree in Creative Writing or the only writing you’ve ever done is in a journal, we welcome everyone who has an innate passion and desire to use words to create art in community with other rewilding souls. We celebrate the unique expression that resides within every individual and do not think any sort of formal education in writing is required to tap into that. We welcome both writers and non-writers alike.

  • Becoming Our Truest Selves: We empower women to break free from the confining roles and ideals imposed upon us by society. We provide tools, resources, and a supportive community to those seeking to become their most authentic selves.

  • Challenging Societal Norms: We believe in accountability to reduce and repair harm. As white cis women, we recognize that we, like anyone, are also capable of harm which is why we value candid discussions and accountability. We are inclusive of trans and non-binary individuals. We are exclusive of those who harm or belittle others. To create safe space in a patriarchal world, we generally will exclude men, but we will consider this on a case by case and trial basis. We recognize the importance of dismantling patriarchal structures and expectations. By empowering women, we contribute to a broader movement for gender equality and social justice.

At Superbloom Society, we believe that everyone has a unique story to tell, a powerful voice to be heard, and an inner strength waiting to be unleashed.

While we don’t have the answers to justice for femme people and excluded people, we do know that we are better and stronger when we come together and put words and literary devices to our thoughts and share our powerful unique stories.

Together, we embark on a transformative journey toward self-discovery, creativity, and empowerment. Join us in rewriting the narrative and embracing the fullness of the human experience.

Together, we grow, bloom and thrive.

Her goal as a retreat and writing workshop facilitator is to build community and space where individuals have the psychological safety they need to explore their inner selves.

MAVERICK MALONE

Writing Workshop Facilitator

Maverick is a self-proclaimed “unearther of life” and uses the art of language to experience and make sense of the world around her. She is also a 2/4 manifestor in human design, a mother and travel enthusiast, and dabbles in photography. She started her writing account @mavmalone after an intense spiritual awakening which culminated in an eventual divorce, severing a 14-year relationship, and kickstarted her own healing. Her first poetry book, Pressed Petals, chronicling her self-discovery journey was published in fall of 2022. She launched her podcast, Ink Speak, the following spring as an additional platform to share poetry, life lessons and long form thoughts, as well as have meaningful conversations with others and to bring awareness to the incredible healing power of words. Maverick’s work most often explores themes of reclamation and empowerment, love, hope, and the magic of life. Maverick hails from the small-but-nevertheless-impressive mountains of Chattanooga, TN and lives with her young daughter, Lilly and dog, Leo.
